Hi fitness enthusiasts, runners, cyclists, hikers, walkers, and people in general! My name is Carolyne and I am a twenty something fitness lover. My journey to a healthier lifestyle and running began the summer of 2012. I just finished my freshman year of college and could not believe how much I did not take care of myself. Granted, that was the year that I had a lot of unhealthy habits such as drinking three times a week, binge eating, sleeping late, and exercising maybe once or twice a quarter. It was also the year my father passed away from cancer, I had moved from Florida to San Diego for school, and basically, the weight gain wasn’t too much of a shock after factoring in all of that.
That summer, I decided I needed to make a change. I jokingly told my boyfriend during lunch, ironically at Golden Corral, that I wanted to do the Insanity 60 Day Challenge. He looked at me skeptically, knowing how rigorous that exercise program was and BOOM. There was my motivation and I started the Insanity Challenge. I thought I was dying the first two weeks, not realizing how out of shape I really was but as I kept it up, I realized how I started getting stronger mentally and physically. It stopped being about the weight loss by the end of the program but more about building up a healthier lifestyle and not wanting that hard work to go to waste.
After Insanity, I began exploring other ways to stay active and my love for running began with running our campus’s four mile loop. I signed up for my first 5K in 2013 and have been instantly hooked. Since then, I have ran 4 5Ks, 2 10Ks, 4 Half Marathons, and 1 Marathon, constantly chasing the next race in San Diego. I realized that running has become my form of therapy, my outlet for celebration or sadness, my way of empowerment, and with this blog, I hope to inspire others as well. It doesn’t take someone with years of experience to become an athlete. All it takes is a goal, inspiration, guidance, and a pair of running shoes :)
Hi Carolyne!
I just read your blog and I found your passion for running really inspiring and a big motivation for a new runner.
I work for a visual thinking company in London, called BAMM.
We are currently working on a research project trying to explore runners and their experience with running.
I would like to ask you to participate as I think you would have some very interesting insights.
The research will take place online over the next two weeks and will require 30 min every other day. We would like to hear more about you, your running and hear your thoughts about the apparel accessible on the market.
Everything will be handle in privacy and so neither your name or your blog will be used in any commercials or anything similar to that.
You will be paid 160$ next week when the project is done.
I really hope you would be interested in participating!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions at all.
Best wishes

Hi Sif,
Thank you for your message and your kind words about my blog! It’s still in its beginning stages, but I can’t wait to share my passions through this outlet.
I am definitely interested in participating in this research project and to provide the insight I have from my experiences with running. What would the research entail? Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Best,
Carolyne
